Worth a buy for the price.4

*** See posts from U. Viveros (Aug 8th) for info on the panel display on this tv***

Picture quality on this tv is excellent (it has an IPS panel) black levels are impressive color is vibrant. And you can tweak the picture to your likeing with a ton of various options. Took me a while to get the picture quality just right for gaming HD content and SD content. SD tv actually looks pretty good on this tv suprisingly sharp picture quality on it. Though this being a LCD tv the picture isn't crystal clear in darker areas you can see some obvious blurring or trailing (but only if you really want to notice and its not as bad as the latest Samsung) in brighter areas blurring is not noticeable at all (in Modern Warfare 2 for example darker wood textures you can see the blur when moving on brighter wall textures there is no blur).

Speakers are decent not going to blow you away with the sound but they aren't complete crap either. Like the picture - sound also has various tweaking options.

Remote is pretty standard doesn't look cheap and doesn't go overboard with the options. But is has everything you'd accept to be on it.

Also has a headphone jack (and unlike Samsungs you can control the volume of the headphone jack with your remote).

You can also display pictures or play music with a usb stick I don't think I'll be using this feature. Would've been nice if it allowed you to play videos from the usb stick...but they only have that feature on their higher end models.

One problem is that if you switch the input to hdmi and then go back to AV or TV input...there is no sound. You have the turn off the tv and turn is back again to get the sound back.

4/5.

Panasonic TC-L32X2 32-Inch 720p LCD HDTV with iPod Dock

Sharp picture quality build with iPod. SD card and PC inputs5

I bought three new 32-inch LCD TVs in one week and returned the first two because of faulty video inputs. The third TV I bought is this high-quality Panasonic TC-L32X2 TV which was just released in February 2010. My experience enabled me to compare three similar TVs giving me good insight to write this review.

I initially bought two other 32-inch LCD TVs; a Vizio VO320E and a Sony BRAVIA BX 300 Series (model KDL-32BX300). I returned both of them because of identical video input problems. I connected two different brands of DVD players to each TV and when I played DVDs there were alternating horizontal stripes of discoloration on the screen indicating a problem with the video inputs on the TVs. I returned both TVs to the retailer because both of these DVD players worked perfectly on two other TVs in my house including a one-year-old Panasonic plasma.

Then I bought the Panasonic TC-L32X2 TV listed here. After the initial setup the first thing I tested was the video output from a DVD player and was relieved to find that the video was crisp and clear with no stripes of discoloration like on the other two TVs. Then I flipped through the channels from a direct cable TV input (no cable box) and the TV output was excellent as well and definitely better than the other two TVs that I had to return. Also the build of the TV was noticeably of higher quality than the other two TVs. The remote has plenty of features and is not cheap (like the ones that came with other two TVs).

This Panasonic TC-L32X2 TV comes with one cable TV input one set of component video inputs (red/blue/green video and red/white audio) two sets of composite video inputs (red/white/yellow) three HDMI inputs a PC input an iPod dock with connector cable and rear input an SD camera card input and a Dolby digital audio output.More detail ...

Toshiba 15LV506 15.6-Inch Widescreen LCD TV with Built in DVD White

What a great surprise!5

After looking for a small white kitchen TV in all the stores and finding nothing at all that would be appropriate I found this one on-line. After reading the mostly good reviews written for it (both the black version as well as this in white) I decided to take a chance and order it without first seeing it "in person." It arrived within two days and it was terrifically simple to set up. I have obviously been living in the dark ages with the small 9" kitchen TV it replaced. It's a perfect size for the table top the color and sound are superior to the old one the various features and options are fabulous to now have in the kitchen -- a variety of picture sizes shapes and modes (yes "movie" seems the best) and even the DVD option will be useful too I bet. I like the wide screen and size in general for this small spot and it should all look even better when they switch everything over to digital within the month and I get my adapter box. I agree there is a few second's delay when switching channels but that seems to be the only fault I can find and it's pretty minor to me. The red light is no problem at all and a tiny light in the kitchen at night isn't a bad thing! This has been a really pleasant surprise!More detail ...

VIZIO VA220E 22-Inch ECO 720p LCD HDTV

Great Television for a Very Reasonable Price5

I purchased this televion once my old standard definition CRT television died right in time for the digital transition. After doing some comparison shopping I happened upon this TV and chose it to replace my old 19" CRT. The first thing you'll notice about this television is its relative weightlessness while common for flat screens is a nice change from cumbersome CRT's. Also setup is very easy and once hooked up to an HD digital cable box through one of the two HDMI ports the picture quality difference is immediate.

Initially the television was connected to my HD cable box via the coaxial port on the back of the TV. Surmised from many a HDTV review I expected standard definition shows to look worse once connected via HDMI but I guess going from coaxial (the bottom of the barrel) to HDMI (top of the line) provides an increase rather then decline even in the visual integrity of standard definition shows and HD shows are on whole new level. Vibrant colors nice crisp images and great line quality are the qualities sorely lacking from standard definition programing and televisions. Also I had no problems with the viewing angle what so ever. If I had to down this television for anything it would be that the audio quality is lacking (an apparent hallmark of smaller flat screens) but i'd recomend an external speaker setup to remedy this. Besides that small nitpick this set has my stamp of approval.

If you're searching for an HD-TV television that provides great value without sacrificing quality i'd fully recomend this set.More detail ...

VIZIO VM230XVT 23-Inch XVT-Series 23-Inch 1080p LED LCD HDTV

Excellent TV but beware of the early runs.4

The dirty little secret when buying consumer electronics is to not buy them when they first come out because there are bound to be bugs and defects among the first units manufactured. The manufacture is bound to discover these problems make the necessary correction(s) and the subsequent lots should not have the same issues. This Vizio model is no exception.

I too have had the audio problem where the audio distorts after a set amount of time. When I went to exchange it I made sure the replacement was from a different lot than the first that way I am bound to get a unit that shouldn't have the same problems as what I had before. My new unit works perfectly. For reference my first unit was made on 11/09 and my new unit was made 02/10.

Vizio has also made several firmware updates between the two sets I tried out. The first TV had version 2.06 and the second 2.13. I have no idea what improvements were made but it could relate to the audio problem.

What I like about this TV is that since it has a glass panel the image resembles what a HD CRT would produce. It really smooths out the picture and gives a better image quality that a matte finished LCD panel can't deliver. A typical LCD TV can produce a sharp picture but at the same time it looks a little hazy to me. You certainly can't get a glossy panel for a TV of that size anywhere that I know of. If you like the look that a CRT TV or a plasma gives you will probably like this TV. I am also surprised that Vizio was able to deliver a LED TV at this price point.

I also really like the styling of this TV. It has the appearance of a high-end TV something like what Bang & Olafson would produce. An the fancy touch panel controls are a nice touch. I would like to purchase a 27" or 32" of this same style of set but unfortunately Vizio only makes this style in in 19" & 23".

The sound if you get a properly working unit is quite good. It looks to me Vizio put a smaller version of their HD sound bar into this set because the SRS Surround technology really expands the sound coming from the TV. I didn't find the sound to be "tinny" at all. As others had reported the sound quickly goes from silent to loud.

The remote control only has one IR emitter on it so if you are fairly close to the TV you need to point it toward the IR receiver to work properly. If you stand back a few feet then you should have less problems. You best bet is to use a universal remote control (like the one provided by your satellite of cable provider) because many of them have at least 2 IR emitters giving you a wider range for transmission.

This TV also features a light sensor that can automatically adjust the picture in relation to the light in the room. Be aware you can't use this feature at the same time as the 20000:1 dynamic contrast ratio feature. For me the dynamic contrast ratio feature works better for me.

For some reason Vizio doesn't advertise the fact that you have the ability to pause live TV (like a DVR) if you plug in a flash drive on the back of the TV. This TV also can play a play a slide-show of pictures on a flash drive.

For those that already own this TV and are unhappy with it I would encourage you to exchange it at the store of purchase or have Vizio replace it. No one should have to live with the defect(s) if Vizio corrected it in later runs.

**UPDATE: I have seen that several other retail outlets are no longer carry this product it appears it is being replaced by a more conventional design that lacks the glossy screen. If you are interested in this product be sure to get it as soon as soon as possible.

ViewSonic VT2430 24-Inch 1080p LCD HDTV

Boy was I pleasently surprised!5

I began my search for an LCD HDTV/Monitor over a month ago and purchased 4 other similar items before purchasing this ViewSonic VT2430 and returned the previous 4 for poor performance. I was actually looking for a unit which included a DVD player for use in training lectures. But I couldn't find the right combination so I decided to settle on a unit without the DVD player since those that are built in are all cheap players. This way by keeping the TV and the DVD player separate I can always update the player as needed (BlueRay!).

I looked at a LOT of HDTV/Monitors and chose the VT2430 for its native 1920x1080 pixel resolution. This works out perfectly with the 1920x1080i signals coming via my cable. And...the pictures are absolutely stunning! More so than I even expected even already knowing the quality of Viewsonic monitors. And there are plenty of options for modifying and managing the images from all inputs. One reason for returning a Toshiba unit was that it's native resolution is 1680x1050 pixels which when fed a 1920x1080 pixel signal (HDTV) stretches the image vertically...without any way of correcting the distortion. In fact the manual states that "image size adjustments are not available with 720i and 1080i signals"! VERY poor planning as most cable signals are either 790i or 1080i.

The PC image obtained with the VT2430 is absolutely awesome. I'm typing this review with this monitor with the resolution set at 1920x1080 a perfect match with my PC. There are at least 10 other resolution settings that work as well - just lower resolution results. Regardless of the resolution sent from my PC the VT2430 automatically adjusts for the best picture with each setting. Very neat.

The audio was another problem I found with all of the other units I tried. Most of them were either too low in volume or when the volume was turned up became very distorted. Not so with the VT2430. Plenty of clean sound at all volume settings including loud enough for filling the rooms where I do my training.

The image I get from my (LG) DVD player which upgrades to a 1080i output via an HDMI cable is very good. I also have a BlueRay player which puts out a 1080p signal which again perfectly matches the resolution of the VT2430 for a beautiful picture.

The overall picture of this monitor is far more accurate clean and viewable than any of the other monitors I looked at. The dynamic range is very wide including the darker colors and grays and blacks not quite up to my 52-in Samsung (Over $2300!) but closer than any other comparable sized monitor.

Physically I like the fact that the monitor can be tilted back for watching from higher positions. Also the flat stand can be quickly removed for transporting in its original box which I do often when I'm training.

Great monitor. I would recommend it to anyone. I would however downgrade its rating by 1/2 point for not having a DVD player. But that is not what it is! ViewSonic does sell an LCD HDTV/DVD Combo monitor but it has a lower pixel rate designed more for 720i resolution which is OK for most uses at this smaller size. But having been a TV studio tech in charge of adjusting and maintaining studio monitors I became too picky and always need(!) the best.More detail ...

Proscan 32LB45Q 32-Inch 1080p LCD HDTV Black

Great TV for the price4

This TV is quite impressive especially for the money. There are plenty of inputs many of which are conveniently located on the side of the panel. As far as the picture goes the color is fantastic and the contrast is pretty good as well. Where this TV falls short is the uneven back-lighting. In a low light setting watching a dark scene you can see portions of the screen are brighter than others which can be annoying at best and distracting at worst. Aside from that I have no complaints with the television. Were money no object I'm sure the Proscan would rate lower however the value you get out of this TV for the price is hard to match. It is a very fine budget LCD HDTV.More detail ...

Samsung LN46C630 46-Inch 1080p 120 Hz LCD HDTV (Black)

Fantastic Image Display5

The picture on this TV was stunning right out of the box. After a few minor adjustments it was as close to perfect as I could imagine. It came with the SQ01 panel and it would be hard to differentiate the color depth and quality from some of the plasma sets I looked at. The TV is in a very bright room and the matte screen cuts out glare with no picture degradation. The viewing angle is very good though we are never more than 25 to 30 degrees off center. The picture is very stable from channel to channel with no change in the back lighting that I can see and the standard definition picture is almost HD quality when using the 16:9 picture format. It has separate settings for processing speed and anti-judder for motion blur when using the Custom view mode unlike the majority of sets that combine both settings into one. I watch a lot of sports and really don't notice motion blur at 60hz so its certainly not an issue at 120hz. I'm not a gamer so for my viewing habits I see no need to spend more for a 240hz option. The sound is very good for normal TV viewing. It can be connected to a home network and I have also hooked it up to my laptop using the VGA connection to watch Netflix and even that produces an acceptable SD picture. There are multiple picture settings you can use to suit just about any programming source including watching at 120hz without the "soap opera" effect that some people find so annoying. There are 4 HDMI and 2 USB connections plus one for headphones. There is no S video so you may need cables to hook up older external equipment. UVerse is the programming source.

One thing about settings. The first evening the picture suddenly got much darker and even though I would reset the brightness it would get dark again once I left the menu. I spoke with Samsung and they had no idea why this was happening. It turns out this set automatically adjusts the picture to your room brightness in the Standard viewing mode which is the factory default. You can change this in the Eco portion of the picture menu to never go below a certain brightness level or you can turn it off completely. This is not an issue when using any other viewing mode.

The last time I bought a LCD I continued to look around in case I found something better. That will not be the case this time as I am completely satisfied. Pilot shipping through Amazon was great. They delivered on time set up the TV and swivel stand and had everything working in 5-10 minutes.More detail ...

Samsung LN40C630 40-Inch 1080p 120 Hz LCD HDTV (Black)

Time for an upgrade!5

I have literally been following the prices of HDTV's for about a year now and there is no better time for an upgrade! Samsung just released their new "C" series and somehow they are remarkably less expensive than their pre-existing models! The majority of the websites are selling this HDTV for $800+ Amazon's lower-than-low price is less than the rest of the market. I purchased it here on Amazon and received my HDTV in 5 days (could have been 4 days but I had school all day). CEVA did the shipping for my HDTV which I was wary at first because I have only dealt with UPS and Fedex. However CEVA provided excellent customer service as they did contact me and I verbally specified a delivery time. Packaging was very efficient and surprisingly light too!

For those who prefer using TV stands you do have to assemble it on your own. Extremely easy to assemble though! All it took was 9 screws (already in the box) and I recommend using a power-screwdriver. Directions said it required two people I did it solo! I was just eager to hook up my PS3 via HDMI cable and experience the wonderful world of 1080P.

Okay now for the specifics and why this HDTV deserves a spot in your living room - As I mentioned before right up to my purchase I extensively followed the quality and price of several HDTVs. The Samsungs 530 550 630 650. The Samsung 630 is the best deal for your money here's why: The 5 series is less expensive but only offers refresh times of 60Hz as compared to the 630 which is 120Hz. This is a big difference and means that your HDTV with 120Hz displays at least twice as many frames-per-second which makes movies not only sports very fluid and more realistic. Another difference is the response time where as the 5 series has a 6ms response time the 6 series has a 4ms response time. And if you are a gamer a difference of 2ms can make a big difference. So why the Samsung 630 and not the 650? The only difference now is the contrast ratio. The 630 comes with a 80000:1 contrast ratio which in my opinion still creates an extraordinary depth to the display. TV contrast ratio's are starting to become stable around the 70000 - 100000 range (or much higher for LEDs). Whereas 3 years ago the highest was around 10000 but kept constantly rising. So this HDTV is very much future proof. Yes the 650 has a higher contrast ratio but is it worth the extra $200 something dollars?

All in all if you're not worried about price go all out and purchase a LED HDTV. But if you want to shop smart this HDTV is the way to go.More detail ...

AWESOME LITTLE TV...5

This little TV is great for a kitchen or as a small tv for a guest room or childs room. The remote is simple and concise. Setup is a breeze. Wall mounts easily. The picture is excellent. The viewing angle is excellent. I researched alot of 19" LCD TV's and decided on this one. Many other 19" tv's have a poor viewing angle...this one does not. The picture is clear. You will not go wrong with this TV. I have mine connected to a small radio shack Hi-DEF off-air antenna for the kitchen. I was amazed that I gets over 20 HD channels on it. The antenna is small and mounted outside. I would really compare this TV to Sony Samsung. Its just as good. Not to mention the price..wow..it was about the same price as the bargain off-brand TV"s. You wont go wrong with this little beauty! Youll see every pimple on American Idol! Whew hooh!!!!More detail ...
